Adventure In Pisa

Square of Miracles

When my English teacher proposed me to send the request to participate to a summer course for translators and interpreters,I would have never imagined I would have been chosen between all those people. So I packed a few things and I went for 5 days to Pisa, where the course would have taken place.

I would have had the opportunity to meet new people and to improve my interpreting skills.
The course started on the 22nd of June, but I decided to arrive a day earlier to get comfortable in the hotel and to have a brief tour of the city.

My hotel was right in the front of Piazza Dei Miracoli(Square of Miracles) and the university was exactly at the other side of it.

This meant that every single morning I had to walk next to the Leaning Tower and all the other amazing monument.
Of course this had quite a positive effect on my daily mood.

The course consisted in daily lessons from 10 am to 4 pm with an hour lunch break and it aimed at introduce us into the world of interpreters.

DAY 1:THE LEANING TOWER OF PISALeaning Tower of Pisa

On the first day, I decided to visit the Leaning Tower.
As soon as I went into the ground floor vestibule, I started to feel the lean.
After a brief introduction about the history of the Tower, I went up the stairs, where the lean became evident.
The guide explained us that a lot of people used to commit suicide by jumping from the top of the Tower and that’s the reason why they placed a lot of special fences(very similar to the ones at the top of the Empire State Building in NY)all around the Tower.

DAY  2:THE CATHEDRAL,THE MONUMENTAL CEMETERY AND THE BAPTISTERY

I spent the second day visiting the rest of Piazza Dei Miracoli.
First I visited the Cathedral and then the Monumental Cemitery, where important Pisans such as aristocratic families, cardinals or scientists are buried.
The last monument I visited was the Baptistery,a two-floor round building where people were baptised, where the guide explained us the amazing echo effect which take place inside it.

DAY 3:HANGING OUT IN THE CITY

I spent the third day just visiting the rest of the city and a few very beautiful museums, which are not so famous because they are overshadowed by Piazza Dei Miracoli.

DAY 4:RELAXING BY THE TOWER

After visiting the city, I decided to give myself a bit of relax, spending the entire afternoon just lying on the grass nearby the Tower with my  new classmates.
Since it was the last evening,we then decided to go out for dinner and hang out all together.

DAY 5:GOODBYE PISAIMG_6681

The last day was the most frenetic one because as soon as we finished the lessons, everybody started to “disappear” by going back to their hometown.
After saying goodbye to my new friends, I went to the station where I caught a train to get back home

It has been great because I met so many nice people who instantly became my friends and we spent an amazing week just learning new skills, hanging out and having fun.
